I do find it interesting how divisive TPP is overall. It would of benefited from the extra polish the wait would have provided. However, I think it should of been packaged in with TPP from the start. Granted, we didn't see how the story ended within the demo but it was free.Īgain, i'm not trying to dismiss GZ because I love it. In comparison, MGS2's tanker demo was far more robust in terms of mechanical depth, story and variation within environments. In terms of structure, it feels like a prologue or a demo but it was never sold that way. The game ends on a massive cliff hanger and expects you to wait two years to get any answers. I think i'm in the minority of people who spent 100 hours in the game but I still remember how disappointed I was in that fade to white before the credit sequence. I don't think GZ justifies the asking price either. Not to mention, the average gamer was probably unlikely to know how short the experience would be but nevertheless, I did get my money's worth so i'll take your point on that one. It's not worth it from a cost ratio and it was underhanded and greedy for Konami to even expect people to pay that much. BoW is £48 for realistically around 30-40 hours on a first playthrough. I also apologise as I forgot Konami actually reduced the price from £40 to £30 at launch. Someone who plays GZ for the first time is very likely to complete it in two hours. Other people might enjoy them though and I think they were well done for what they were. I really just want to enjoy stealth gameplay and don't have any interest in recruiting soldiers or collecting materials, but those are things I have to deal with in TPP that weren't present in GZ. I also personally have never cared for the micromanagement element of dealing with mother base. In my dream alternate universe we get a version of TPP that uses this model, with a big variety of missions across a number of different bases. In addition it makes the most of its single map, giving you a big variety of missions each with unique enemy layouts, patrol routes, and events. The overall guard density felt much higher, and it made better use of specialty obstacles like security cameras (which I barely ran into over the course of my entire playthrough of TPP). I also didn't know that you could equip a sleep grenade launcher to a tranq sniper rifle.I don't know that I would call it a better game strictly, but Camp Omega feels like a much better designed and more interesting level than most of what I encountered in Phantom Pain. I haven't fought with many defenders with this setup tho, but if they get close, AIR 1000 is still good. The guy I quoted already explained about sniper rifle and shooting guards in the face. AIR 1000 shotgun seems to take out guards with 6 level battle armour in one shot, not sure about 7. I use almost the same setup, (AIR 1000, tranq sniper rifle) just that I use Ze'ev (that what it's called?) as secondary weapon for UAVs, camaras etc, and yes it's a very useful non-leathal setup. Main drawback is the defender, you gotta carry a lot of smokes, stun, sleep grenades and decoys cause it's easier to just sit with brennan and wait for him to appear. They have helmets on higher levels so it's hard to hit area around the face with sniper, but far from impossible. I always go non lethat, it has some drawbacks but I feel bad when I kill a soldier.
